Dark Horse Sports Recruiting (DHSR) was created to help students and their families do just that. We help you get into college, secure athletic offers and receive scholarship aid from all sources possible.
We accomplish this by providing a service designed to develop the entire student-athlete. Success in college academics and sports depends on students developing both their athletic and intellectual gifts. The Dark Horse Sports Recruiting Executive Team
President & CEO, Director of Basketball Operations
Brandon has grown up with basketball. While being a collegiate level player himself, Brandon has focused on the organizational side of the sport. While still in high school, he founded the Mercury Elite basketball program. Within three years, it grew to be the largest youth basketball organization in Illinois.
Brandon brings over four years of recruiting experience from his time at the Mercury Elite. Having built the club’s recruiting infrastructure, he hopes to take his expertise and serve a larger group of students. He has placed over fifty high school athletes at major college programs, with total scholarship aid exceeding $13 million dollars.
Brandon oversees all recruiting mentors within Dark Horse’s basketball division. He maintains contacts with over 300 college coaches on behalf of the company and is constantly expanding the company’s outreach.
Director of Football Recruitment
Coach Chmiel is a legendary college football recruiting coordinator who was named one of the Top 11 Recruiting Coordinators of all Time in Football’s Second Season: Scouting High School Game Breakers. During Bob’s time serving as the football Recruiting Coordinator at Northern Illinois University, Northwestern University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Notre Dame, he was a part of fourteen bowl games (including six Rose Bowls).

Prior to his illustrious college coaching career, Bob held the head football coaching position at Chicago Catholic League powerhouse Fenwick High School for several years. He was subsequently named to the Chicago Catholic League Hall of Fame in 1993. Bob has been active in many areas of the sport, including holding positions as a college football analyst for ESPN and Comcast Sports.
As Dark Horse’s Director of Football Recruitment, Bob will bring over twenty years of college football recruiting experience to Dark Horse players and their families.
Director of Athlete Promotion
Patrick has been deeply involved in a variety of sports-related roles over the last five years, including coaching and producing highlight videos for the Mercury Elite youth basketball organization as well as training young athletes with Acceleration Sports Performance. During Patrick’s tenure with the Mercury Elite, his videos were essential to the program’s marketing efforts directed at over seventy-five athletes who advanced to play collegiate basketball in only three years.
As the Director of Athlete Promotion, Patrick is responsible for evaluating Dark Horse athletes and generating digital media that showcases their strongest attributes to college coaches.
