Dark Horse Sports Recruiting Announces Creation of New Football Division

South Bend, IN – Since its inception, Dark Horse Sports Recruiting has worked to provide aspiring college basketball players from the Chicagoland area with the most robust and comprehensive recruiting service on the market. With a focus on finding each of its players the best academic and athletic fit possible, Dark Horse has fine-tuned a formula designed to maximize its clients’ future successes. By the time the class of 2017 has graduated, the service will have placed nearly seventy-five student-athletes at colleges around the country while helping them to earn over $15 million in athletic and academic scholarship offers. Along the way, Dark Horse executives have grown confident that their mission – to enable youth athletes to achieve their dreams of playing the sports that they love at schools where they can excel at prices they can afford – can benefit athletes in sports beyond basketball. Today, it is taking the first step towards expanding the scope of its services by launching the Dark Horse football division.

At the helm of the football division will be Dark Horse’s newest hires, Lee Becton and Robert Chmiel. Lee, who will serve as Dark Horse’s Director of Football Operations, is a former Notre Dame tailback who rushed for over 2,000 yards in his career and won two Cotton Bowls and a Sugar Bowl with the Fighting Irish. He then went on to play for the Green Bay Packers in the NFL before spending the last 17 years working in sales in Bloomington, IN and Providence, RI. Robert “Coach” Chmiel spent the early part of his career coaching at Chicago Catholic League powerhouse Fenwick High School, and he was elected into the Catholic League’s Hall of Fame in 1993. Robert then served as the Recruiting Coordinator at Northern Illinois University, Northwestern University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Notre Dame, appearing in fourteen bowl games (including six Rose Bowls) before being named one of the top Recruiting Coordinators of all time by Tom Lemming. He will join Dark Horse as the company’s Director of Student Recruitment.

Brandon Ruggles, Chief Executive Officer, said “it is an honor to welcome two individuals with such extensive knowledge and experience in the sport of football to our company. Lee and Robert share our passion for guiding student-athletes through the college recruiting process, and we are excited to work with them as we grow this new division of Dark Horse together.”
